Royal Commission into the Protection and
Detention of Children in the Northern Territory

Community engagement team speak to CAAMA Radio in Alice Springs

NT Royal Commission Community Engagement officers Barbara Shaw and Nick Espie recently spoke to the Central Australian Aboriginal Association (CAAMA) Radio in Alice Springs about the work of the Royal Commission.

The community engagement officers provided an update on the work of the Commission so far, including our visits to communities around the Territory and the hearings held last October and December. They also provided details on the forward work of the Commission for 2017.

They spoke about the various ways people could provide information to the Commission and outlined how the information will be used.

Information provided will help the Royal Commission to understand what’s been happening for children in detention and care (welfare) over the past ten years.

The Commission is committed to protecting this vital information and those people who share their story and the officers detailed the protections in place.

The interview was broadcast across the Territory to a wide range of communities.

Listen to the interview.
