29 September 2017

The Royal Commission into the Protection and Detention of Children in the Northern Territory has today published a further five submissions.

Submissions published today include those received from:

  • Northern Territory Legal Aid Commission
  • National Family Violence Prevention Legal Services Forum
  • National Justice Project (May and June 2017)
  • Solicitor-General for the Northern Territory

“Public submissions provide the Commission with an understanding of the child protection and detention systems in the NT from the perspective of stakeholders, organisations, individuals, government and non-government organisations.

“We thank all those individuals and organisations who have taken the time to share their views” said Kirsty Windeyer, Official Secretary for the Royal Commission.

The Commission has now published 79 submissions from 72 community groups, stakeholders, advocates, academics, government and non-government organisations.

“These submissions, and all material gathered, will help guide the Commission as we work towards the delivery of the final report by 17 November 2017,” added Ms Windeyer.
